Not Authentic Japanese Cuisines, and More
Again, the time of my favorite entry has come--unofficial restaurants review of Chicago.

Not authentic, but awesome. I've heard that non-Japanese people, including Chciago lawyers, love this place, and now I knew the reason why. The atomosphere is exotic and nice. The plate is beautiful (see the bottom-left picture of Gozzilla Roll, which looks like a creepily moving caterpillar). The tastes of creative rolls are very new, even to us Japanese people. They also have a good collection of Japanese sake as well as beers, wines and cocktails for those who don't like sake. I promise, it's worth a try.

It's a fusion of Japanese and Brazilian cuisines that makes this place special. The atmosphere is like a night club and noisy. Tables are placed around the center Sushi-counter. Some strange-looking ornaments which we guessed would represent nigiri were hanging from the ceiling as you can see in the right picture.

Still, the foods were not bad. There were traditional sashimi, nigiri and American rolls. Near the entrance, they have a sports bar counter, too. So, if your interest is not only in Japanese cuisine, this place might be a choice.

This restaurant's website is irritably flashy and even forces viewers to listen to the dramatic theme of Allegria, but it is still so informative that expectations receiving from this site is generally correct. Located on the lobby floor of the Fairmont Chicago Hotel, this luxurious restaurant offers Asian-American fusion cuisine. The decorations of dishes are delicate and artistic. It has a relatively reasonable "pre-theater" dinner menu for those who will go to theaters after dinnner.

4 Cocoro East

I have already introduced this place in my previous entry, but I restate it here in English for non-Japanese people. If you are tired of non-authentic Japanese cuisine and feels like trying real Japanese foods, this is the place you should go. The staffs are all Japanese, who create real Japanese tastes. In addition to sushi, their menu offers shabu-shabu, a Japanese-style meat fondu, which I think is offered only here in the downtown area of Chicago. Ask for today's special seafood, which is directly imported from Japan. The address is 668 N. Wells St., Chicago, and the tel # is (312) 943-2220.
